Port Number

A 16-bit number (0-65535) that identifies a specific service or process on a networked host. Well-known ports include 80 (HTTP), 443 (HTTPS), 25 (SMTP), 21 (FTP), 53 (DNS), and 5060 (SIP). Port numbers allow multiple network services to run on the same server, each listening on a different port.
