RFC 3263 defines how SIP entities use DNS to locate SIP servers, specifying the use of NAPTR, SRV, and A/AAAA DNS records to determine the transport protocol (UDP, TCP, TLS), port, and IP address for a SIP request. It describes the resolution procedures for SIP URIs and SIPS URIs.
