Abstract
RFC 4217 defines FTPS (Explicit TLS), specifying how TLS is layered over FTP control and data connections using the AUTH TLS command defined in RFC 2228. It covers connection setup, session resumption for data connections, and the interaction between TLS cipher negotiation and FTP transfer modes.
