Abstract
RFC 2616 was the original HTTP/1.1 specification, defining the protocol syntax, semantics, and connection management in a single monolithic document. Widely implemented for over a decade, it was obsoleted in 2014 by a suite of RFC 7230–7235 documents and ultimately by RFC 9110–9112.
