The key-value pairs in the payload section of a JSON Web Token that convey information about the subject and the token itself. Registered claims are standardized by RFC 7519 — iss (issuer), sub (subject), exp (expiration), iat (issued at), and aud (audience). Public claims can be freely defined but should be registered to avoid collisions. Private claims are custom application data agreed upon between the issuer and consumer.
