DNS

DNS Zone

A portion of the DNS namespace managed by a specific organization, defined by a zone file containing all records for that delegated domain. A zone has a single authoritative nameserver (or a set of them) responsible for answering queries. Zones are delegated by parent zones through NS records, forming the hierarchical structure of the global DNS.
